What is Operational Stress?

Operational stress can appear like commonly perceived symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Some jobs, especially those of military members and first responders, expose people to life-threatening, shocking and/or horrific events.  Those exposed over prolonged periods of time to extreme levels of traumatic stress, discover their body and mind will adapt to ensure survival. Survival responses can include physical, mental, emotional and behavioral changes.

These normal and important changes,  can make the transition to daily life difficult and interfere with work, home, relationships, and one’s overall quality of life.

Operational stress is the normal consequence of exposure to on-the-job trauma, while PTSD is a disorder that can develop when people don’t get treatment or retraining to assist recovery from operational stress.

MEASURABLE OUTCOMES

Work

Considering many adults exceed 50% of their time working, it is critical to recognize the impact of your work environment on your mental health. A positive environment provides a sense of purpose, confidence, structure, and growth. It also can build a community of meaningful relationships. Conversely, a negative environment can increase anxiety along with other stress-related obstacles.

Our mission is to identify these hurdles and challenges and guide you toward a more positive outcome.

LOVE

Healthy and supportive relationships are linked to confidence and self-worth. Evidence proves that social support correlates with longevity and overall wellness. Being a victim of emotional or physical abuse affects one’s capacity to love and accept love.

Psychotherapy helps differentiate the past from future obstacles, provide insight into compromised feelings of trust, and rebuild relationships.

PLAY

Connecting to yourself and recognizing your needs defines play. Play inspires you and creates a sense of well-being and satisfaction. It should not be labeled unproductive, since it is important to relax, seek adventure, laugh, and engage.

Psychotherapy helps guide you to connect with your inner self and recognize that play is a critical part of being you.

“You must love in such a way that the person you love feels free.”
